The arbitrary and unlawful use of pretrial detention represents a problem in guaranteeing the rights of persons deprived of liberty. In this report, the IACHR analyses and provides recommendations for its reduction, emphasising the implementation of alternative measures that allow the person to remain free while the criminal proceedings progress. In this cover art, there are people on their backs looking towards the horizon, and bars are melting through them, representing the idea that people should stay out of prison until they receive a sentence.
